Volvo Trucks has expanded its iconic FH range with the launch of the Volvo FH Aero, a groundbreaking model that sets a new standard for energy efficiency. Featuring a sleek, optimized aerodynamic design and cutting-edge technology, the FH Aero takes fuel savings and emissions reductions to unprecedented levels. Available in four powertrain variants, including biofuel and Volvo’s award-winning electric technology, this new addition redefines what’s possible for heavy-duty trucks.
With its advanced aerodynamics and innovations such as Volvo’s Camera Monitoring System, which replaces traditional exterior mirrors, the FH Aero can cut energy consumption and emissions by up to five percent*.
“The new Volvo FH Aero is our most efficient truck ever, reflecting our ongoing commitment to reducing CO2 emissions across our entire range,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “This is Volvo at its finest – a beautifully crafted, high-quality truck designed for the toughest long-haul operations, ensuring the success of our customers.”
The Volvo FH Aero Electric, selected as the International Truck of the Year 2024, will be offered as an energy-efficient addition to Volvo’s growing electric fleet. Additionally, the FH16 Aero becomes the most powerful truck in the industry, boasting a formidable 780 hp engine designed for the toughest tasks.
No matter the powertrain—electric, gas, or diesel—each version of the new FH Aero offers reduced energy consumption, extended range, and enhanced safety and driving performance.
The FH Aero models will be rolled out progressively in 2024-2025, available in four variants: FH Aero, FH Aero Electric, FH Aero gas-powered, and FH16 Aero.
The cab of the FH Aero has been extended by 24 centimeters, enhancing its aerodynamics and stability, particularly in windy conditions. This aerodynamic upgrade not only improves fuel efficiency but also benefits the electric model by enhancing free-rolling capabilities, allowing for increased energy regeneration during braking and downhill driving.
The FH Aero’s striking design features Volvo’s bold Iron Mark—the largest on any modern Volvo truck—and the Volvo Spread Word Mark, making it instantly recognizable as the latest evolution in Volvo Trucks’ lineup.
The new Camera Monitoring System greatly improves both aerodynamics and safety, offering drivers enhanced visibility in challenging conditions such as rain, direct sunlight, or tunnels. It also features an auto-panning function when driving with a trailer, improving safety during turns.
Key features of the Volvo FH Aero include:
- Refined I-See technology that uses a cloud-based topographic map to optimize driving, saving energy and allowing more relaxed driving in cruise control mode.
- Updated braking system with patented drag-free brake discs that enhance braking performance while reducing energy consumption and emissions.
- Upgraded infotainment system with customizable options, enhanced sound system with six premium speakers, a new power amplifier, and a subwoofer for superior audio.
- New built-in navigation system tailored for trucks, with automatic map updates for efficient deliveries.
- Interior upgrades, including an integrated microwave and USB-C power outlets.
- Expanded access to Volvo Trucks’ My Business Apps, a subscription service that allows drivers to download business-related apps to improve truck uptime and daily operations.
- New Tyre Monitoring Service, which provides fleet operators with real-time updates on the truck and trailer’s tyre status via Volvo Connect, minimizing costs and downtime due to tyre issues.
The Volvo FH will also continue to be available with a standard cab option, catering to market-specific needs.
